What VR games should I get?

Main Post:

Im getting a Quest 3 as a first VR headset for Christmas and I'm wondering what games I should buy, I also have a PC so you can suggest PCVR games.

Top Comment: Superhot VR - If you don't know.... This game was first released in pancake mode and you were playing a VR game where you stop moving and time stops enabling you to dodge bullets and stuff, perfectly plan your attack. Then it came out in VR for real and it is FUCKING AWESOME. Story is pretty interesting while not very deep it is very satisfying playing this one from start to finish in one go. Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners + Aftershocks DLC - It's walking dead survival game that comes with a waves mode as well. The story is interesting enough to keep you invested the survival mechanics are just tough enough. Crafting is fun and braining zombies and covering yourself in their guts is just fun. Contractors - CoD VR Pavlov - Counter Strike VR Blade and Sorcery (Get it on steam and mod it look up 'The outer rim') - Sandbox melee combat game with dismemberment and decapitations. Very fun and satisfying. Skyrim VR with FUS modlist - Awful without mods to support it. FUS modlist makes it very close to the best VR experience you can get on the game while not having to do too much of the fine tuning yourself. Adds realistic bows, drops on death so you have to literally scavenge your enemies loot off the ground and a whole bunch of other cool things. Pistol Whip - A rhythm shooting game, kill enemies to the beat, dodge their bullets pistol whip baddies to recharge your health. Very fun, similar to Beat Saber but I find it WAY more fun and you will be a sweaty sack of flesh. After and hour straight you WILL be sore from dodging bullets and smacking fools. Battlegroup VR - Command a fleet in a sort of space RTS you have a big hologram of the battlefield and use that to command your fleet and your own ship in battle. It is super fun and immersive, you get to watch the battle unfold around you as you're micro managing your fleet Robo Recall - It's like.... iRobot the movie. Robots helpers taking over world and turned on the humans. You're tasked with taking out the 'defects' you can grab bullets rockets and throw them back at your enemies you can rip them to shreds with your hands. This is a high score arcade game with like 10 levels or so with varying difficulties. Lots of weaponry to choose from as well as upgrades through the game. Creed is more arcade like than Thrill of the Fight so if you want something more realistic go with ToF. Creed is like street fighter in the sense that each character is has different stamina or punches stronger where ToF relies more on your own stamina and strength. Dragon Fist VR super fun fighting game more based on martial arts rather than boxing. Eye gouging your opponent to blind them you can slap punch and kick and every character has a special ability. VTOL VR This game is WILD it's like a flight sim using the motion controls. Every cockpit is fully operational you learn to use actual weapons systems on each plane, it has a pretty steep learning curve. Make sure you do the tutorials or you will be VERY frustrated. You must use your instruments and tools to do anything in this game. I have so many more but my time is up. If I am have ambition later I will reccomend more. Cheers!

VR Games you enjoyed most in 2024

Main Post:

As the year 2024 comes to an end I start a discussion about the VR games we most liked to play. Here are my two cents:

Asgard's Wrath 2: I still playing that, at the moment stuck because i need to uplevel my chararcter to defeat some giant boss in Surtur castle. So I am in the arenas now to uplevel. This is not much fun, but before the game was good.

Assassins Creed Nexus: very good game! Loved it to the end, I will also replay this one day.

Batman Arkham Shadows VR: This is a game almost everyone likes. Triple AAA and I am halfway through.

Half Life 2 Steam VR mod: I played the original game with the mod and Ep1/Ep2. This was a great experience and almost on the level of Alyx.

Warplanes WW1: This game is on my top list for a few weeks now. FLight models are great, missions will be generated and are not scripted, what I dont like. But you upgrade your planes, buy new planes and the gameplay is great fun. I will replay this on higher difficulty and also try the other warplanes games.

Dragon Quest XI UEVR: I just started this and works well with Virtual Desktop for my Quest 3. The world looks great and even it is 3rd person in VR it is much better than flat. The game has a so called 3D mode and in this mode I play and everything looks like a native VR game.

Top Comment: For me 2024 was the year of UEVR. I think I played more than any other year since 2017 and I barely even touched anything native VR. 2025 will be even better with the 5090 releasing which is a must for most UE5 games.

Why is VR Still Struggling to Take Off?

Main Post:

Earlier this year, I got myself a Quest 3. Mostly to play the VR ports of Resident Evil 4 and Half Life 2. After I finished those games I was surprised to find that there are actually very many quality games on there. When people talk about VR and why it hasn’t become "mainstream" they'll cite price, comfort and limited content as the reasons why.

I think now the price and content are there, but maybe I'm wrong. Many of my friends still don't seem interested enough to get a headset of their own.

What do you think is the main hurdle for VR? And what could make you use it more?

Top Comment: Between the space requirement on older gear, trade-offs between different models, motion sickness, price, hardware and software fragmentation (which of the 5 headsets should I get for which game?), there are a lot of obstacles for mass market adoption. For me it was the motion sickness or dizziness. After a couple hours either need to sit in front of a fan while using it or just plain stop. It was neat but outside of VR Chat I didn’t really find a game that had me super engaged.

What you consider the best VR video game

Main Post:

What you consider the best VR game, by VR game I'm consider not only games that runs only on VR, like Beat Sabes or HL Alyx, but games that supports VR as well. For me personally, it's Half-Life: Alyx or GT7, but I would be really keen to see Kingdom Come: Deliverance to support VR TBH

Top Comment: Half Life Alyx remains unmatched. Incredible experience.

Edit: Changed it to a table to make it a bot more readable, maybe?

Top Comment: Guys, you HAVE to play Vertigo 2. Like, it’s genuinely hard for me to express how good of a VR game it is. I have never felt like “go anywhere, do anything” has been so fully realized in VR. I just can’t speak highly enough of it. Vertigo 2 is an unmissable experience if you have PCVR. I genuinely enjoyed it more than Half Life Alyx and I’m not being hyperbolic.

Looking for VR Game Recommendations!

Main Post:

I recently got myself a VR headset and I'm now on the lookout for some game recommendations. I'm open to everything – from the big hits to niche games that might not be well-known. It doesn't have to be limited to Steam; I'm curious about any titles you find remarkable. Is No Man‘s Sky worth it?

Thanks in advance for your recommendations!

My top 10 VR games of ALL TIME list

Main Post:

Hey All, I made a video going over my top 10. I'll link it here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=syn27yH6-F0

But I'll also write it out below in case you don't give a shit about watching videos.

10. Wanderer My 2022 Game of the Year. A mind-bending time-travel adventure packed with stunning visuals, creative puzzles, and a Forrest Gump-like way of weaving history into a gripping sci-fi story. With Fragments of Fate dropping soon, I couldn’t be more excited. I think its gonna kick ass and fix the combat problems this one suffered from.

9. Pistol Whip One of my first VR purchases, and I’m still playing it years later. This is rhythm-shooter perfection—bullet-hell action synced to music in a way only VR can pull off. With endless content, mods, and a gameplay loop that never gets old, it’s easily the best rhythm game in VR.

8. Phasmophobia Clunky VR implementation? Sure. But damn, I love this game. The ultimate blend of horror and teamwork, where terror fuels your desire to gather evidence. Phasmo nails immersion even with the jank. Stuff like the ghost whispering back through a spirit box or using the Ouji board. Its just the pulse-pounding and damn good fun. It's been my most-played VR game for two years, and I still can’t get enough.

7. Vertigo 2 Pure VR brilliance. This wacky, Half-Life-esque shooter is bursting with creativity—branching paths, wild weapons, and some of the most unique mechanics in VR. A 10-12 hour campaign packed with secrets, insane boss fights, and an addictive upgrade system. And with Into the Aether DLC dropping soon, I’m more than ready for another trip into madness.

6. Batman: Arkham Shadow Last year’s Game of the Year for me. This isn’t just a great VR game—it’s a full-fledged, polished experience. The melee combat is unmatched, the story is gripping, and it proves the Quest can deliver AAA-quality games. You don’t just play as Batman—you become Batman.

5. Dirt Rally 2.0 Hundreds of hours in, and it’s still the most immersive game I’ve played. The physics, the feedback, the thrill of sliding around a corner at breakneck speeds—it’s unmatched. This game even helped me diagnose a low tire pressure IRL. Pair it with a direct-drive wheel, and it’s as close as you can get to rally racing without totaling your car.

4. Walkabout Mini Golf The best mini-golf experience. Period. Walkabout captures real-life mini-golf but removes the downsides—no waiting, no bad angles, just pure fun in impossible, dreamlike courses. The physics are flawless, the DLC is a steal, and it’s the ultimate chill VR game. I own it on every platform, and I regret nothing.

3. Demeo A perfect marriage of board gaming and VR. Strategic, challenging, and endlessly replayable, with five massive campaigns and deep team synergy. Every session feels fresh, and I’ve poured 200+ hours into it. But with BattleMarked on the horizon, my Demeo days might be numbered—because that sequel looks insane.

2. Resident Evil Village The game that turned me into a horror junkie. I avoided horror games my whole life—until this. It’s pure survival horror, where every bullet matters, and every corner hides something terrifying. The boss fights, the tension, the sheer production quality—this is what VR horror should be.

1. Half-Life: Alyx Still the king. The smoothest, most polished VR experience ever made. The Half-Life series is why I bought a headset, and Alyx delivered. But what keeps it at the top? The mods. Return to Rapture, Levitation, Gunman Contracts—mods so good, they rival full games. If you haven’t dived into the Workshop, you’re missing out.

Top Comment: what do you think of walking dead saints and sinners and half life 2 vr
